Electro Magnetic Fields (EMFs) are everywhere. Generated by our bodies, atoms and even electronics such as our devices. Information is transmitted wirelessly through EMFs and technology such as WiFi and bluetooth take advantage of this as well as our cells. They are everywhere and certainly predate our modern technology.
In order for us to better understand these fields, it would be helpful to see them. Arguably, we can’t sense them with our five sense, but they are certainly measurable and affect their immediate environments. We can easily view magnetic fields with iron filings as well as ferrofluid (ferromagnetic fluid).
This project takes the ephemeral pattern generated by the Electro Magnetic Field of technological devices and objects around us using either iron filings or ferrofluid and captures them in Resin to create a permanent sculpture. These EMFs are not inherently good or bad but they do reveal an underlying cosmic pattern that is important for us to understand, especially if we want to understand how they interact with us.
